what it looks like in june 2019 ... AFTER REFURBISHMENT
Burley Parish Council have spent over £150,000 on the refurbishment of the village library. Burley Community Trust has also provided funding and a large personal legacy for the new Story-Wall and children's shelving. Additionally, the library has received donations from Burley Educational Trust, Ilkley Round Table, Burley Summer Festival and BADCOT. Last, but by no means least, individuals and families from the village have donated their time, energy and considerable amounts of money towards the works. This joint effort has given the village a beautiful new space which all the community can enjoy for many years to come.
The refurbishment of the building has now been completed ... new over-roof, windows, front door, carpet, decorating, accessible toilet, new kitchen and radiators. Finally, an amazing children's Story-Wall and shelving throughout displaying graphics by local artists and photographers, along with a hand-painted mural designed by Maddie Coelho. More items are still needed for inside - please see Fundraising for more details and how you can help. The works were completed in just 8 weeks between April and early June 2019. The library reopened to the public on 3 June 2019.
