FUNDRAISING FOR BURLEY IN WHARFEDALE COMMUNITY MANAGED LIBRARY
THANKS TO ALL THE DONORS SO FAR WHICH INCLUDE:- Burley Educational Trust, Ilkley Round Table, Dale Eddison, BADCOT, Burley Summer Festival, Stephen H Smith's of Otley, Burley Nursery School, Burley Community Trust, Co-op Community Fund, Bradford Libraries, volunteers (too many to mention), customers (too many to mention) and personal legacies.
The library has had little income from fines and fees, donations or rental since the start of the Coronavirus crisis in March 2020. We do still have substantial outgoings in the form of maintenance, staff costs and for extra cleaning measures. Bradford Council is continuing to support our business rates and utility costs for the time-being.
Also, we still have a small “wish list” of extra items such as social distancing measures for children’s outdoor activities. We also have on-going costs for the children’s activities which are currently “online” but will soon be returning outside.
In addition, we have our new “Green Shoots” community garden project for which we are seeking funding. We hope to be able to build permanent raised beds at the front of the library and fund “real” activities for adults, families and children.
Unfortunately, the library budget does not stretch to include all these things. If any local businesses or individuals would like to contribute towards or sponsor specific items, the library team would be really pleased to hear from you.
We are also happy to accept donations of any amount towards our “wish/needs list” – even under £1. It all adds up!!
Thank you to all our loyal customers – we couldn’t keep going without you.
If you would like to donate we have envelopes for anonymous donations in the library or contact us on burleylibrary@gmail.com
