VOLUNTEER
We welcome new volunteers. We can never have too many. The more ... the merrier ... and the lighter the load. If you would like to volunteer at the library there are many ways in which you can help. You can help on counter, shelving books, welcoming customers and helping them to find their way around the library, using the computer systems, sorting donations, tidying shelves and removing grubby books for the Book Sale, helping the Burley Local History Group with their Archives, helping customers to learn how to use computers or tablets, assisting or even running a storytime/rhymetime for under 5s, creating displays, helping with children's crafts and our Summer Activities, watering the plants ... There are many many ways in which you can help.
We also launched a new exciting and sustainable project for the village in Spring 2021. It is called "Green Shoots" and we would welcome lots of pairs of hands and green fingers to help with this project over the growing period.
So ... if you want to help ... you need to do a few things first. Firstly, think about when you can help. We have broken the times that the library is open into the following shifts so that they are not too taxing for anyone:- (You only need to commit for one or two shifts per month, unless you want to do more!)
Monday 10 am to 1 pm
Monday 1 pm to 5 pm
Tuesday 10 am to 1 pm
Tuesday 1 pm to 5 pm
Thursday 2 pm to 5 pm
Thursday 5 pm to 7 pm
Friday 10 am to 1 pm
Friday 1 pm to 5 pm
Saturday 10 am to 1 pm
Then send Abi an email at Burley Library or leave a message on 01943 863714 with your contact details. Let her know that you wish to volunteer and for which shifts you may be available. She will then get in touch. You do not need to send a CV and you do not need an interview. We welcome EVERYONE! The most important skill is a willing spirit and a friendly smile :)
